Tabs and Dashboards
When you log into Ooyala Flex, you will see the main Ooyala Flex console. The main Console is split into dashboards for each object type. You can access each of these by clicking the relevant tab in the global navigation. Dashboards offer similar functionality to ensure consistency and ease of use across the system. Dashboards help you find and update information about specific objects in Ooyala Flex, dependent on your role.
A) Tabs: By clicking on each tab in the Global Navigation, you can access the various object types that you have created in Ooyala Flex, such as workflows, assets, resources, and so on. If you create a custom object type, it will also appear here in its own tab alongside the system object types.
B) Warnings and Notifications / Available Tasks: Some dashboards will show warnings of things that have failed and various "calls to action" if user interaction is required. The desktop dashboard shows an aggregation of all warnings and notifications from all dashboards. You might also see an overview of any tasks.
C) Wizards (I Want To..): Multi-screen wizards to manage common tasks. For more information on wizards, visit the Wizards page.
E) Shortcuts: Direct links to objects you have saved as your favourites. You can save any Ooyala Flex object that you have created, so that you access it quickly and easily. For more information on creating a shortcut, visit the Basic Navigation section.
F) Saved Searches: Searches you have saved, which contain certain search criteria you might want to use again. In Ooyala Flex there are various types of searches that you can perform. These include global searches, text searches, object specific searches, and pre-populated searches. For more information on searches, visit the Search section.
G) Recent Activity: This is a real-time update of events as they occur, grouped by Object event type. Every tab in the Global Navigation shows you recent activity associated with the dashboard you are currently viewing. The Desktop tab provides an aggregate overview of all the objects in the system. It basically shows you a snapshot of what's going on when you first log in, and alerts you of any issues that require your attention.
On the right-hand side of each event, you will be able to see when it occurred.
Each event type will have a unique symbol associated with it.
For example if a ser logs into the console, you might see their profile picture.
H) The Toolbar: The Toolbar houses several options including the New option which enables you to create new objects. To find out more about the toolbar, visit the Basic Navigation section.
The various tabs that are found on the Global Navigation, help you to work with and organise objects you have created in Ooyala Flex , such as Workflows, assets, resources, and so on.
The standard tabs found on the Ooyala Flex dashboard are as follows:
The Assets tab: Which enables you to view your existing digital assets, such as video clip and images, as well as upload new ones.
Players tab: A player instance is an object that enables you to display video and audio content on your own website, tablet or mobile application. The player definition specifies the look, feel, and behavior of the player.
Tasks tab: This displays a summary of your workflow tasks and recent activity related to your tasks. You can also access your shortcuts and saved searches for task-related events.
Jobs tab: This displays a summary of your current jobs. A job is a unit of work in Ooyala Flex such as transcode, ingest, and export.
Workflows tab: This displays the status of your workflow instances, including recent activity, and flags failed workflows.
Resources tab: This tab displays all the visible resources that are being used on the platform and the status of the resources. Examples of resource types are transcoders and storage devices.
Settings tab: In the Settings tab, you can search through settings, and view all of the existing objects that you have created by selecting their object types from the toolbar.
Access tab: In the Access tab, you can view all of your accounts, users, groups, and roles by selecting the respective object type from the toolbar. You can also use the search features to search through all of these.
Admin tab: In the Admin tab, you can view and configure various things related to administration for your account, such as logs, system properties, and dead letter queue.
Setting a home page
When you log into the Ooyala Flex console, you will see the Desktop tab. The Desktop tab is set as your homepage by default. You can set a different page as your default home page if you want to. This is known as "pinning". For example if you were to pin the Assets tab as your home page, it would become the first page you would see upon logging in.
Pinning a page
To pin a page, follow these steps:
1) Navigate to the page you wish to set as your home page, e.g. the Assets tab.
2) In the top-right corner of the console, click the Pin the current page as your default icon.
3) Your chosen page is set as your home page. Now, when you log into the console from now on, your chosen page will be the first one you see.
Note: Log out of the console, and log back in again, in order for the change to take effect
Unpinning a page
To unpin a page, follow these steps:
1) In the top-right corner of the page that you have set as your home page, click the Clear current default page icon.
2) The page is then no longer set as your home page.
Note: If you do not select another page to act as your home page, then the Desktop tab will become the home page by default.
In the bottom-left corner of each dashboard in the console, you can see which version of Ooyala Flex you are currently running. So for example if you were currently running 5.1.5, it might say 5.1.5-SNAPSHOT-r67382.
