Using the Metamarkets Facet View

Facet View Interface Overview

Note: The video tutorials referenced here do not reflect the latest Metamarkets UI changes and not all of the functionality is available to Ooyala Pulse users.

Facet is typically used more as a report builder. It provides a table view where you can see rows of dimension data displayed against your metric columns. You can customise your reporting tables by adding new dimensions per split bars and by drilling into these dimensions using the expand/collapse feature. All facet views provide custom time comparison options so you can view and compare your data over longer and shorter intervals. The interface looks the same for Auctions and Bids view. The dashboard defaults to preset dates, showing you the past week of data.

This is the default look of the Facet view interface. As soon as you add the first split bar, the report layout changes to a table. The functionalities available in the report tables are also explained below.

Facet view interface

Part Name Description
1 Schedule reports Only available in Facet view. Schedule a report for yourself or others to be delivered by email on a recurring basis; daily, weekly, or monthly.
2 Expand/Collapse Facet interface Expand gives you the option to:
  • Click on "Overview" to return to the default interface (chart and dimension tables).
  • Click on + to quickly bookmark reports.
  • Access all of your previously bookmarked reports. When clicking on a bookmarked Facet report, you see a cogwheel icon which gives you the option to update, edit name, or delete that bookmarked report.
Note: Bookmarks are saved per account user, meaning they are not shared.

Collapse to hide the expand options.

3 Report time frame Set the time period for which you want to see the data.
  • Time frame picker: View data for a specific time frame. The available options are:
    • Today
    • Past 24 hours
    • Yesterday
    • Past 7 days
    • Last week
    • Week to date
    • Month to date
    • or, set a custom range
  • Limit to specific hours: View data for full day or a specific period of hours, which you can drag and adjust.
  • Comparison picker: Compare data from the currently selected time frame against the matching previous period for easy trending comparisons. For example, compare data for today against data from yesterday.

  • Include sub-items in the report: Check the box next to the sub-items you want to filter on and click "Apply", or
  • Exclude sub-items from the report: Check the box next to the sub-items you want to exclude from the report, check the "Exclude" box, and click "Apply".

For example, to see data related to a specific DSP, select the "DSP Name" dimension and include only the desired DSP. This filters out all other DSPs.

6 Split by Add dimensions per split bars. This enables you to drill into these dimensions using the expand/collapse feature and see the absolute change and percent change fields, provided you are in comparison mode.

Report Examples

Example: Ad Ops campaign troubleshooting

Use the facet auction view to get a daily view of campaign performance and quickly identify campaigns with negative performance and take action on these.
  1. Choose a period, for example yesterday and compare it to previous day.
  2. Filter by "DSP Name" and exclude direct campaign.
  3. Split the data by "Marketplace Name", "Deal Names", "Seat Name", "Adomain (Winning Bid)", and "VAST Error".
  4. Add relevant metrics, such as "Bids", "Wins", and "Impressions".
Possible optimisations:
  • Block the URLs that are causing the drop off.
  • Contact the DSP to block or notify the buyer seats that are doing this.
  • Modify the passback timeout settings in the case of ads timing out.

  2. Filter by "DSP Name" and exclude direct campaign.
  3. Split the data by "DSP" Name, "Campaign Name" or "Adomain (Winning Bid)", and "VAST Error".
